Getting old can be a tool or a weapon. I must use it as a tool to live my best life with the limits aging imposed on the elderly. Some children will use it as a weapon to blackmail their parents making them feel guilty for not being there for their children.

My blood began to boil reading some of these words. In my culture, many Jamaicans believe that when you reach a certain again, you should be parked in a corner like an old car with parts that are hard to find.

Women in my culture know more about how to be a mother than anything else in their lives. And she will become a grandmother and great-grandmother if she lives that long.
