There was a village and in that village was a river. The river was serene and was also very clean. It helped people and the other living beings in every possible way. The river was content because everybody led a convenient life because of her.

Slowly, people started taking the river for granted. They took benefits but also started to pollute the river. People threw garbage and started bathing, washing clothes on the banks of the river. Months passed, the river had become dirty. The transformation of river from crystal clear water to smelly place was fast. People didn’t seem to care at all.

All of this made the river very angry. In anger, she prayed ti rain God,” Don’t rain this entire year or until these selfish people learn their lesson. “

The prayers were heard and monsoon became dry. People waited but there was no sign of rain that year. People worried as there wasn’t enough water to people’s needs. The animals had left the place and humans were struggling for a drop of water. Soon, they held a meeting. They realized their mistake and decided to clean the river.

One man told everyone,” It is because of our carelessness, we are in this problem. The river has taught us a lesson. So,let us clean the river for her and our sake.”

People worked day and night and finally the river was cleaned. The river silently prayed again to the rain God to lift the curse and it rained that day. The river was filled again with fresh water and people were happy.
