Have You Heard of Black Love Day?
— A Day That Goes Much Deeper Than Black Romance
Have you heard of Black Love Day?
As someone who grew up in a two parent home, Black love is celebrated around me — always. Black Love Day is everyday.
Every relationship has their ups and downs — but my mother and father never miss a beat expressing their love for each other. They love each other down to the marrow in their bones and you can feel it — you know?
It’s cute. It’s sickening. It’s inspiring.
My friends would always tell me when they grew up they wanted to find a husband/wife and be married as long as my parents. They were the blueprint.
No — they ARE the blueprint. For me.
My parents have been married for going on thirty six years in October. They get so excited thinking about how much of their lives they’ve spent together. The stories are nothing short of entertaining.
In the twenty six years of living and witnessing their marriage the best way I can describe it is — beautiful.
My father taught me how a man should treat his wife. Love his wife. Take care of his wife.
Apologize to his wife.
My mother taught me how a woman will take care of her husband. Love her husband.
