Mansa Musa: The richest man in history
When I thought of the richest man in the world I used to think of men like Jeff Bezos. If you live under a rock Jeffrey Bezos is the owner of Amazon — an online resource that billions of people use everyday. He has also accumulated a net worth of 184.4 billion as of this year. (and we’re barely two months in.) He is considered the richest — if not, one of — the richest men in the world right now.
But what I’m going to share with you today is the story of a man with much greater wealth than Bezos, or Elon Musk or whomever comes to mind when you think of the richest men in the world.
He ruled an empire and successfully reformed the economy to crown him as the richest man in history.
His Name Is Mansa Musa of The Mali Empire
I’ve come to find that the illustration was originally created by Tim O’Brien Illustrations. The man depicted above is known as the King of Kings — or Mansa Musa.
Now, I came across this man not from my own academic research — but from Facebook! Of all places.
