Everyone remembers the day Black Panther premiered.

We thought to ourselves — this is what we needed. This is what we’ve been waiting for!

Our representation was finally given it’s justice in a superhero movie! We all crowded the theaters. We all crossed the x over our chests and shouted ‘Wakanda Forever!’ everywhere we went because we were proud of the outcome of such a beautiful film.

What makes it beautiful about the film is — that hype never died.

This is after seeing several appearances of black superheroes — especially in Marvel films — it’s a treat to see a hero film where it’s majority are people of color.

We’re seeing a lot of representation in comic book films. A black man is Nick Fury. A black man is Captain America.

Cyborg.

Luke Cage.

Starfire!

This list is expanding everyday. The opportunities are growing larger to see us as heroes in movies.

And not to forget the other superheroes we have in DC and Marvel.
