Coordinate Tasks with Update 6.5

BAND has tons of new features and functions for you to stay coordinated and connected with your groups. We’ve been talking with our users about some of their most requested features, and we think you’re really going to enjoy what we have in store for you with Update 6.5!

Signup Feature

Many users have been using our To-Do List as signup sheets to assign tasks for their group members. We’re introducing a dedicated Signup feature that allows you to assign dates and times to different tasks. You can also set the number of participants required for each task, so you can be sure that you have enough people to get the job done! Up to 10 Signups can be attached on each Post.

You can even add external members and set a deadline for your tasks — this is similar to how Calendar Events have worked in the past.

Read Receipts on Chat

One of our most beloved features is the ability to see who has read your posts, because it helps group leaders hold everyone accountable. Based on your great feedback, we’ve made it possible for chatroom creators and admins to enable read receipts inside Chat, so you can see who has read your Chat messages. To see who has read your chat messages, press on the ‘>’ button next to the number of views.

This feature will be enabled by default and can be toggled in the chatroom settings.

Event Comments

When you’re holding an event, there isn’t a centralized place to discuss event details and talk about the event itself. We’ve added the ability to comment directly on each event, including anniversaries and holidays.

Markdown Feature

For our more advanced users, we’ve added a way to edit the text within your Posts. We’ve incorporated Markdown for you to add tables, quotes, and more, and enabled rich text formatting. Up to five Markdown attachments can be incorporated into each Post.

Calendar Permissions for Co-Admins

We think administrators shouldn’t have to handle planning everything on their own. Admins can now give Co-Admins permission to add and remove calendars. ‘Add Calendar’ permissions for Co-Admins can be toggled in your BAND settings under the ‘Member Privileges’ section.

BAND Referral Program

We’ve added a Referral Program to help make it easier for you to recommend BAND to your friends and family with a dedicated page. When you invite others through the page, you can share additional information to help convince them to join. Anyone who joins is able to install the app for free, and you can get some great rewards when your friends create their own group.

Post Attachments: Photo Collage

Photos and videos attached to a post will now automatically appear in a photo collage on the News Feed and Community Boards. The collage will be laid out according to the ratio between uploaded photos and videos. Videos will autoplay inside thumbnails when multiple photos and videos are attached.

Push Notifications

Push notifications sent by BAND will now be divided into two separate categories. One category is for in-app events, promotions, and giveaways, which can now be disabled by users. The other category is Service Notifications, which contain important information on updates and policies for the service.

Other Updates

• iOS support for auto-play videos and GIFs in chatrooms
• If an event has an end time, this will now be displayed alongside the start time on upcoming schedules
• Text limit for chatroom names has been increased from 50 to 100 characters. Text limit for chatroom description has been increased from 100 to 200 characters.
• A co-admin activity log has been added for Admins to see who has removed a member or deleted a post in the past month.
• The sticker shop has been reorganized and now includes the name of the artist. Users can now search stickers by artist name.
