Spring Tryout season is finally here, and that means it’s time to turn over a new leaf and start fresh for the coming year. As soon as tryout season starts, coaches need to select their starting roster and start setting the tempo for the rest of the year.

For coaches who have been using BAND throughout the entire season, Spring means cleaning things up and preparing the group for the year ahead.

Each season, coaches have to decide whether they’d like to start a new Band with their updated roster, or simply change the title, remove last year’s roster, and invite the new roster. We’ve heard both sides work well, so we’d like to list some of the pros and cons and help you decide how YOU want to refresh your team for Spring!

Option #1: Start Fresh By Creating a New Band

Start fresh in the new season by creating a new Band! You can keep old teammates within the group from last season, so they can see their old photos/videos and files without having to share them again in the new Band, but you can also post similar or the same content to the new Band by selecting “Post on other Bands.”

You can invite existing members by sharing an invite link in your old Band, so anyone who’s staying on the team can easily join the new one.

Want your new season’s Band to show first and hide the last season’s Band? Edit the order of your Bands! On your BAND Home, tap the three dots on each Band’s cover. On the pop-up menu, tap ‘Pin this Band’ or ‘Hide this Band’ to show your new season’s Band first and hide or unpin your previous Band.

You can easily manage the order of pin Bands by using the Edit menu on your BAND Home.

Option #2: Keep Using Your Existing Band

Another way of preparing for the new season is to invite new teammates to your existing Band and remove the old ones. The benefit of using your existing Band is you won’t have to re-add members or set-up as much if most content will stay the same.

The downside is that graduating members will no longer have access to the memories you’ve created together if they’re removed from the group. Instead, you can suggest that they download any photos and videos they want to keep before they are removed to make room for the new team.
