At picturesque Huntington Beach, it’s typical to see families out in droves beneath the bright summer sun, relaxing quietly and playing peacefully on the beach. But on this summer weekend, the families were anything but quiet and peaceful. As part of the Copa Cabana beach soccer tournament circuit, the families of the Lightning Soccer Club (LSC) were out cheering loudly for their kids as they played soccer on the sand.

In youth sports, it takes a strong community of parents, siblings, and coaches to ensure the games run smoothly and the kids having fun out on the field.

“I’ve been helping my brother and taking him to soccer games for probably about 10 years…since he was really young.” — Neric Rebollar, LSC Team “Parent”

Lightning Soccer Club relies on parent volunteers who take time out of their busy schedules to create a better team environment for the kids. In addition to practices and games, the team participates in food drives and car washes to raise money and give back to their local community.

Lightning Soccer Club coaches and administrators have to dedicate their own time to maki these things happen. In addition to her role as LSC Vice President and Team Manager (and mom), Rosaura Gamero (Rosy) also works as a legal secretary.

Rosy saves over an hour per day by using BAND to share important team information instead of sending emails and text messages. BAND helps to manage her busy schedule so she can focus on what’s most important to her.

“I like to enjoy my son’s game, so if I can just send one message and go back to my routine, I’d really appreciate that.” — Rosy Gamero, LSC VP

Before using BAND, parents weren’t able to be as involved as they are now. With BAND, they can share pictures and videos directly from the field, and catch different angles of whatever’s happening. It’s easy for them to feel more involved and be a bigger part of their kids’ team, without having to sacrifice tons of time and effort chasing down the information.
