Dear Community,

We want to clear the air:

Band Protocol CTO and Co-Founder, Sorawit Suriyakarn, is NOT NomiChef, the creator of Sushi Swap (Known online as: NomiChef).

Sorawit Suriyakarn as CTO, often reviews the code for other projects, as it is commonplace within the industry. He did a review of the initial code deployment of SushiSwap to make sure it was safe for public use.

We value our partnerships and want to assure our investors, partners, and community that our initial interest in Sushiswap was straight forward — if it became successful, Band token, as a ‘farmable’ asset, would gain more visibility and therefore would boost its usage.

We were not involved in the operation of SushiSwap in any capacity.

There have been multiple rumors circulating in Crypto Twitter — let us debunk them all in this post.

Sorawit’s Github

Sorawit has been an active community member on Github, as any CTO of a community-driven, open-source project should. His interest spans across multitudes of technologies, both inside and outside of blockchain space. Looking at the repositories he has “starred”, anyone will find a wide range of products — none of which should be indicative of his particular commitments.

Below is the screenshot of the link that some community members have been circulating. Note the particular filter that has been set to “written in C#” in an attempt to conveniently mask the fact that he has stared 90+ repositories and not just this Hearthstone-related code.

Hearthstone is a game played by more than 100 million players worldwide. Starring one of the few open-source techs made for the game doesn’t mean Sorawit is Chef Nomi.

Hosting Service

Some community members have pointed out that sushiswap.org and bandprotocol.com share the same IP in the hosting service. That was in fact correct. However, the service that we use for hosting our website is a well-known and award-winning hosting service called Render.com — which has been gaining in popularity and used by some of the largest tech companies, not only us.

Anyone can create an account and host their website with Render service. A simple search on the Render’s IP address <216.24.57.1>via a reverse-IP lookup would yield hundreds of websites using the service.

We have since changed the hosting service to Netlify to avoid any further confusion. Also, note that we use a variety of tools and services for product hosting and deployment including Surge, AWS Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform.

Outlook Beyond FUD

We are excited to see that Band Protocol has been growing rapidly and continues to be recognized as one of the strongest oracle players in the industry.

We remain focused on building a safe and secure data oracle to drive the decentralized finance and cryptocurrency industry forward.

Recently we have announced many strong partnerships leveraging BAND oracle and look forward to sharing news of the 20+ Band Protocol integrations we’ve been working on in the near future.

Thank you for your continued support.
