We’re about to enter the next stage of our mission to create a platform — a community — for Bangladeshis growing up and living in the West.

To do that, we’re expanding our core team. Though each role comes with specific responsibilities, they all also mean joining our exec— helping guide our vision, and being a part of decision-making as we continue to grow.

The positions (described below) will support the 5 projects that we have ongoing, running simultaneously:

1. Community Posts:

• Why: this is how we started — to give our community a voice, to highlight shared experiences, struggles and successes.
• What: getting deshis from across the world to share their experiences of being Bangladeshi in the West in blog-style written form through Medium— covering a wide range of topics.

2. FYI of the Week:

• Why: to highlight the good/bad/ugly happening to members of our diaspora across the world.
• What: one easy-to-read and relevant news headline per week with a very brief summary, with a few sentence summary weekly posted across our social channels.

3. Artist of the Month:

• Why: to highlight the incredible talent hiding in our communities (visual artists, photographers, activists, etc).
• What: an article written on Medium (bio with short text interview) featuring a different artist every month.

4. News Commentary:

• Why: to express shared opinions and emotions on relevant news happening in the world.
• What: short, sass-filled, GIF-aided commentary on Medium on existing news. It’s commentary, not news reporting.

5. ROBI:

• Why: to create an anthology of poetry and photography from those in our community — because they’re f**king talented.
• What: an annual publication, to be in-print and online. Volume 2 in May 2019.

Staff Writer

• News Commentary: contribute/support team with opinionated, 300–500 word blog-style posts to news as relevant news arises (expected to be once every 1–2 months). Stories can be pitched by the writer or will be assigned from time to time.

Social Media Intern

• FYI of the Week: ongoing support with research looking for relevant news
• Artist of the Month: ongoing support in creating a database of artists to feature.
• Social Media: copywriting, scheduling of posts ensuring adequate and regular activity across social channels

Graphic Designer

• Branding: support in establishing new branding strategy, including logo and associated branding (cover photos, profile pics, etc)
• ROBI: design the layout for ROBI Volume 2 (release date: May 2019), as well as associated promotional materials
