What did you want to be when you grew up? A lawyer? A pilot? For us, the dream was to become professional ice-cream tasters. But as you can see, sadly, things turned out different. Not for Rawan, though. Rawan knew she wanted to be a doctor since she was 12 years old, and she’s remained steadfast in pursuing that dream!

Rawan loved biology and enjoyed chemistry, but physics wasn’t her strong suit. She invested most of her time and effort into getting her grades up. She knew how competitive admission to medical school would be and how much she needed to distinguish herself as a great student to get in. But thankfully, Rawan was not fazed by this. This is what she’s wanted for years, and she was willing to work hard for it.

Months had passed, and it was time for Rawan to sit for her Tawjihi exams. She had gotten lots of sleep, stayed hydrated, ate well, and reminded herself that the nervousness she was feeling was temporary. Her first exam was maths. She left with the same air of confidence she came in with.

Next came biology and chemistry, and she could feel she nailed them. Then came her other exams, and last was physics. She did the best she could and was content with her answers. Now, all she could do was wait.

Finally, the day had come. Her results were live, and she had passed with flying colours! Rawan was beyond happy, and her parents were beyond proud.

But the celebrations came to an end when they realised they couldn’t afford medical school. So, Rawan and her parents started looking into scholarships. They found one they were hopeful about until they learned it would only cover 40% of Rawan’s tuition. This wasn’t nearly enough. But Rawan refused to give up and kept searching for a solution.

One day as Rawan was searching online, she accidentally stumbled on Bank al Etihad’s Easy Payment Plan page. Rawan found she could get up to 50,000 JOD in tuition money for any university in Jordan, and her parents could repay the money at their own pace through smaller, easier-to-manage instalments over up to 12 months at 0% interest.

To activate this plan, Rawan’s parents would need to apply for a credit card and then call the bank’s contact centre after paying her tuition with that card. It was that easy!

And the cherry on top was when Rawan learned she could also buy a new laptop for university using the Easy Payment Plans. If she buys a laptop from a Bank al Etihad partner store, she could repay the laptop’s price over up to 36 months at 0% interest. But if she buys a laptop from a non-partner store, she could repay the laptop’s price over up to 24 months at 1% interest. Either way, it was a win-win situation!

Rawan went to her parents to show them the page, and they couldn’t believe that an option like this was available. Upon reading the information on the page, her parents felt a weight had lifted off their shoulders. And the celebrations recommenced because Rawan was going to medical school!

Now, Rawan is a 5th-year medical student, and she’s loving the grind. She’s been able to focus entirely on her studies, and her parents have been able to sleep easy at night ever since they started using Bank al Etihad’s Easy Payment Plans.
