Fire Financial Services Founder makes Payments Power 10 List

We are delighted to announce that Colm Lyon, Founder and CEO of Fire Financial Services, has been named as one of the payment industry’s most influential players on the Payments Power 10 List for 2015.

The Payments Power 10 is an annual list recognising the top 10 contributors to the payments industry worldwide. The list, published by PayExpo, one of the payment industry’s largest event organisers, is compiled on the basis on more than 1,000 votes from around the world as the payments community decides which individuals significantly contributed to the evolution of payments globally.

Colm’s journey in the payment processing industry began in 2000 when he founded Realex Payments. Under his stewardship, the company has experienced rapid growth, becoming one of Europe’s fastest growing payment gateway providers. This culminated in its acquisition by Global Payments Inc. in March 2015 for €115 million. Realex Payments now processes in excess of €28 billion for more than 12,500 corporate and small business customers across Europe.

Following the acquisition of Realex Payments, Colm stood down from the role as CEO to focus on his other business venture, Fire Financial Services, a mobile payments app allowing users to send and receive instant payments to any UK or Ireland mobile number. He remains on the board of Realex Payments as a non-Executive Director.
