The so-called ‘Titanic Quarter’ is not only home to the memory of the one of the largest ships ever manufactured; it has now also become a symbol representing the opportunity for Belfast to start again, after years of stagnation.

For more than a century the citizens of Belfast have kept quiet about the origins of the legendary vessel, and only now do some dare to embrace the districts’ history. While a lot of attention is drawn to the Titanic Quarter’s current successes and its future, a fundamental question is left unanswered: Is this tourist destination, investment opportunity and business attraction celebrating the history of an engineering marvel never again seen in history, or are people merely trying to profit off of a historical tragedy?
