Note: This is the third Technical Report, originally published in late March 2018 by the Banyan Network Team — meant to be an addendum/update to the White Paper. They were all originally published in Chinese, so we asked the CTO for an “official” translation in order to help those interested in the project, get a better technical understanding via a more “bite-sized” report.

Banyan Network Technology Architecture Development

As a Data Fusion Value Chain Network, the overall technical architecture of the Banyan Network needs to meet the requirement of smooth and efficient operation of various data services.

In the recent multi-party communication with various participants in the data industry, the Banyan’s partners of the primary application are: data cleaning services, data API services, data usage authorization services, and data ownership certification services. Based on the landing requirements and partner requests, according to the hierarchical design and batch iteration rules, the Banyan Architecture has been further refined lately and it is attributed to the following updates:

Banyan Network Architecture

Product Layer

Responds to various top priority data needs of Banyan’s partners:

  • Data Acquisition Services: interfaces for partners with data acquisition capabilities, such as data crawler services.
  • Data Cleaning Services: interfaces for data cleansing partners, such as crowdsourced data labeling and cleaning.
  • Data API Service: interfaces for data provider and as well as data consumers, such as various data sources and various financial risk control and targeted marketing use cases.
  • Data Authorization Service: interfaces for data usage permission and authorization solutions, such as Multi-Trust Connector (MTC).
  • Data Ownership Certification Service: interfaces for data assets right validation, such as articles, music, big data, etc.

Data Layer

Collect and process the data generated by various services of the product layer. Different storage media and storage formats are provided for different data services, and a unified file format is applied on the final data.

Protocol Layer

Defining various data conversion protocols, converting the data generated by the upper layer into a variety of corresponding uplink data that can be traced back.

Contract Layer

Updated to include smart contract and basic chain adaptation features. The smart contract records the data from the protocol layer into the blockchain, and the adaptation layer is the adapter of various basic chains and contracts.

Blockchain Layer

The most basic blockchain layer includes Ethereum, HPB, NEO, and/or other mainstream chains.

The Banyan Network will continue to optimize the technical architecture and continue to steadily advance all levels of development. The development team is currently focusing on the development of authorization & permission management services. Since it’s the foundation and guarantee of Banyan’s big data network operating under regulation in China. Progress will be released to the community in due course.
