Napoleon Bonaparte, a man of Italian background, was part of the famous French Revolution. Yet, being emperor was better for him. While he initially ruled under the tri-counsul system following his overthrow of the government, he got rid of the other two counsuls so he could rule alone. In 1799, he was in control of France. He was a big time world player for 15 years until his arrogance got the best of him. By 1814, he was exiled to the island of Elba. He would die in 1821.
