White Supremacy Can Be Rendered Less Powerful

What do we want?

I accept the reality of white supremacy in America. It is a reality. Yet, I am not a full blown pessimist. An Afro-pessimist. Forget that.

I am an optimist and a realist.

I am sure America can reduce and diminish the impact of white supremacy in our lives and in the country. It is up to the people here. The people can decide to have a different country. As much as it was decided that America would be a white supremacist nation, it can be decided that it won’t be one anymore. It is that simple. The people decided they didn’t want people smoking indoors at work anymore and people had to go outside. The smokers are still angry about this.

But if we, the people, want a different country, a country that is not free of white supremacy but one in which white supremacy has less impact upon the lives of everyone, it can happen. This has been done in individual communities and within institutions.

No one, of any racial category, or ethnicity, or nationality, has to ever believe that people of European descent (what is called “White” here), are superior to all others and…
