Asha’s Spring Cleaning Guide
With summer just around the corner, spring is a great time for a bit of a health kick.
It’s no secret that the key to feeling confident at the beach is feeling fit and healthy, usually with a flat stomach! Here are some tips to de-bloat and reduce inflammation in time for summer.
Start the day with an alkalizing, fat-burning drink
Try 1 cup of warm water, half a lemon squeezed, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar and a pinch of cayenne pepper. This is metabolism boosting and sets you up mentally to make better choices throughout the day.
Increase protein
Higher protein diets are essential for weight loss as they promote satiety and lean muscle mass. Some great sources of protein for afternoon snacks are:
- shaved turkey breast
- 2x boiled eggs
- Bare Blends’ Whey Protein Isolate with 1 cup almond milk, ½ cup water, 1 handful ice, a pinch of stevia, and some Raw Cacao Powder.
Increase fibre
Fibre is perfect for elimination and feeling full. Some great sources are adding psyllium husk in your yoghurt with 1 tablespoon Bare Blends WPI, 1 tablespoon Raw Cacao Powder, 1 tablespoon almond butter and some cacao nibs! A green apple as a snack, or including oats in your diet at breakfast are also great ideas.
Cut out refined sugars!
These are so toxic and cause inflammation in the body. They are also the main cause of fat around the stomach. Our body is only able to tolerate so much sugar before it is converted to fat. Some great ways to reduce sugar is to use stevia or rice malt syrup instead (particularly in baking) or a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup. Eat plenty of berries, especially strawberries! Some other low sugar fruits are kiwi, rhubarb, raspberries and blackberries.
Increase cruciferous green vegetables
These include cauliflower, brussel sprouts, broccoli and cabbage. You can roast brussel sprouts with spanish onion and balsamic vinegar in the oven. This is one of my favorite ways!
ACTIVITY
Try and move your body at least once a day, even if that’s a walk down the road, or a stretch session. Ideally a HIIT session or a strength training session is best. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable!
