How to Survive to 6 Dogs in the Office
At Barkibu, take your dog to work day is everyday, although sometimes things get out of hands
From time to time, some article about the benefits of taking your dog to work is published: increases productivity, motivation, or you are simply happier. At Barkibu we don’t know whether we work more or less (there are more disruptions, that’s for sure), but we do know without the need of empirical data that we are motivated and we are happier. Because in this office… no one is ever bored!
When you work at a dog friendly office
This past few months working together with our Support Team we have gone through different circumstances. And they made us stronger.
The vomicaca. An English translation would be something like vomipoop. This has to be on the TOP 1. Do you know when sometimes dogs eat poop from another dog and throw up? Well… it’s not pretty. But someone with a strong stomach, a mop and a lot of air freshener can fix it.
The gas chamber. The Support Team attends to every meeting. After all, they are the reason why we are all here and they have a lot to say. Just imaging a cube-shape meeting room. Nice, with a lot of light, but not too big. A meeting with 3 to 4 people and the Support Team. And one of them didn’t have a good digestion… Now we always leave the door open.
Ups! I did it again. At this point we are even able to match all the gases with who is to blame (yes, 70% of the peculiarities of having dogs at the office are related with bowel movements).
Watch the postman. If we let them, all the members of the team would smother every delivery guy who gets here. They would smother him with kisses, of course. We have learnt to always lock the door so they don’t freak out.
The walk. Never tie your dog to a chair that has wheels. The dog will chase the delivery guy anyways, the chair will “follow” him, he will freak out, scare the others… and that my friend is a big mess.
Not-so-practical table. We haven’t had any accident yet, but we have verified that tables must be strong and solid if you have 6 dogs in the office and 5 are (very) big. Don’t choose the cute ones.
Skating rink. Have you ever tried sliding in socks on a hardwood floor like Tom Cruise in Risky Business? Our puppies also think is funny. The problem is when you have a 50kg puppy who goes out of control. Playing, better outside.
Needless to say, in Barkibu’s Welcome Kit we include a pet hair remover, lunch time is also time for a walk, and there is always someone waiting to share the end of your yoghurt with you.
There is caos sometimes, but we survive. And how!
