Hello, everybody! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป Today we will tell you about one of the world-famous stories of barter exchange.

Many of us have bartered in our lives without even knowing it. For example, if you ever gave your classmate a pen in exchange for a pencil, you were bartering.

Letโ€™s take a look at the benefits of exchanging assets on one of the striking examples of a barter contract.

In the late 1950s, the leaders of the two countries, Nikita Khrushchev and Dwight D. Eisenhower, tried to improve Soviet-American relations. At the opening of the exhibition in Moscow, US companies presented their products.

In 1974, the first Pepsi-Cola plant in the USSR was opened in Novorossiysk. The inconvertibility of the ruble was a significant obstacle on the way of the Soviet Union to an increase in imports of consumer goods. The country agreed to pay for the supply of equipment and concentrate on the production of soda by barter โ€” the famous Russian vodka.

PepsiCo factories appeared in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Tallinn, and other cities. By 1978, they were producing over 200 million bottles of Pepsi a year. In exchange for the concentrate, PepsiCo received from the USSR not only vodka and cognac but also champagne.

In 1990, a new ten-year vodka-for-Pepsi-Cola barter was signed for $ 3 billion. This is the largest transaction in history between the Soviet Union and an American private company.

This example of an international asset exchange allows us to highlight a number of advantages:

๐Ÿ“Œ Due to the high level of inflation in the economy, the endless depreciation of the national currency leads to the fact that people consider it irrational to exchange their goods for โ€œpaperโ€.

๐Ÿ“Œ Lack of cash costs. With a lack of funds for the purchase of some equipment or inventories, there is always the opportunity to exchange them for your own excessive resources.

๐Ÿ“Œ In addition, mutually beneficial cooperation between organizations can be built on the basis of barter transactions. The constant exchange of finished products or factors of its production will strengthen business relationships and increase the efficiency of the enterprise (especially applicable for small businesses).

The main reasons why the heads of enterprises sell products on a barter basis are lack of liquidity and working capital, an oversupply of goods in warehouses, and unwillingness to stop production.

The companyโ€™s specialists say that today barter is the main opportunity not only for survival but also for the development of an enterprise. This opportunity should not be neglected; moreover, one should try to use more of these options for barter cooperation.
