Kris Bryant’s Record Breaking Night

Ever since he was putting on a laser show during 2015 Spring Training, Kris Bryant has become a household. But on June 27th, 2016, he wrote himself into Chicago Cubs history.

Kris Bryant, one half of the affectionately named duo ‘Bryzzo’ (along with Cubs’ 1B and fellow power hitter Anthony Rizzo), recorded a three home run night against the division rival Cincinnati Reds. Three home runs in one game is an impressive feat in and of itself, but Bryant also registered two doubles to go along with his three bombs, giving him a whopping 16 total bases.

Not only did Bryant become the first player in MLB history to log three home runs and two doubles in one game, he also broke the Cub’s record for total bases, and became just the ninth player to have five extra bases in one game. Quite a lot of history was made in Cincinnati, and it shows that Bryant is well on his way to becoming a perennial All-Star for the Chicago Cubs.
