What is OPEN Platform?
OPEN Platform is a decentralized developer wallet and payment infrastructure that allows for easy cryptocurrencies integration into existing applications. OPEN provides the missing payment infrastructure for application developers and handles all on-chain payments and payment data into both centralized and decentralized applications. Most applications will require use of off-chain technologies, thus requiring on-chain and off-chain components that can communicate payments. OPEN provides developers with the payment rails for their applications to handle on-chain transactions and to update off-chain data tables, empowering developers by using technologies they’re already comfortable with and minimal blockchain knowledge. Because OPEN is designed to make it easy for developers to integrate decentralized technologies into their current technology infrastructure, this will help facilitate mainstream adoption of decentralized networks.
Why OPEN Platform?
There are so many projects that are attempting to provide payment gateways, or niche applications to individual problems, but these projects tend to be built for specific applications which forces more projects to attempt to reinvent the wheel. Instead of creating another blockchain solution to address the specific issues of in-app payments, the OPEN team has decided to look at a more scalable solution and create a platform that is designed to facilitate the connection between centralized and decentralized systems, which will also allow every developer the opportunity to port their payment schema to a variety of different platforms.
The project was recently rebranded from Open Money and made a few minor changes ever since, giving it some history. The OPEN team has years of experience founding, growing, and developing mobile applications, from widely known companies such as Facebook, Samsung, Yahoo, Pivotal Labs and Enigma. There’s currently lot of hype with over 30,000 members in their telegram community from the date of this post. An MVP implementation demo of the OPEN Platform on Ethereum’s testnet is available and the token metrics doesn’t look too shabby with raising $30 million for 50% of all the tokens, while 20% of the remaining ones will be used for incentivizing adoption.
