You’ll like this little sandwich if you:

  • don’t own a stove or microwave or a kitchen
  • Are on a road trip
  • Are desperate and have nothing else to eat in the house

Tools you’ll need:

  • the best, sharpest vegetable peeler ever. I’ve had a red kitchenaide one for years and it’s so amazing I get compliments on it.
  • A sharp knife, a paring knife or similar size is ok
  • A bread knife if you’re luxurious, or just your bare hands

Ingredients:

  • an organic apple of your choice. I like to use an apple I wouldn’t normally eat by itself, but goes well with other stuff. Granny Smith is sour af, but holds up here.
  • Hard cheese — it’s usually Parmesan at a small-town grocery store.
  • As good of bread as you can find. This can be a challenge, but you’ll want a baguette versus sliced bread. Sliced bread is gross with this.

Alright you’re ready now. Wash that apple, or just hope it’s clean. Cut it into thin enough slices that you’ll be able to bit into them comfortably. Grab that dangerous peeler and whack off a few (or more) pieces of your cheese. Prepare your baguette to be sandwiched. Pack your apple in first, then your cheese, close your sandwich and take a bite. Yum.

That super hard, salty cheese is awesome with a sour, tangy apple. It’s a lot of flavor, and not your wettest sandwich. I recommend some sparkling water if you have any. Wine is always good too.

Cheers!
