In either college basketball or professional, there is always a couple of teams, that are always in the championship or close to it. In college, there are teams like Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, and in the NBA, there are teams like the Celtics, Warriors, Lakers, and Spurs. In both, there is always a reason for those teams being on top, whether its the coaching or the players.

In college, a team can recruit players from all around the country, to come play basketball for there school. The big market schools, like Kansas, Duke, and Kentucky, always have the advantage, because the player wants to continue the legacy of the greats from that teams past. With players coming in and out of a program every year, schools like these are bound to get big name recruits to come to there school.

The NBA is a little bit different however, because teams can no longer recruit once you hit the professional level. Instead, there is an annual draft, to pick players from college to go into the NBA. Some teams, like the Warriors and Celtics, have drafted very well in the past, which in turn, has lead to a very good team. Other teams rely on free agency and giving players money to attract them to there team. Teams like the Spurs and Lakers have benefitted from this because of the big market that the players want to play in, to get more publicity. Others just have very good coaching and rely on the training staff to progress young players to all-star level. Good examples of this is Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo. They were both relatively unknown coming into the league and now are the some of the best players in the league.
