Matt Bonner Not Expected to Sign with Spurs, Looking for Max Contract

The Red Mamba

2-time NBA champion Matt Bonner is an unrestricted and is looking for a large pay-out.

“With the huge salary cap spike and the red-hot free agent market, EVERYBODY is getting paid. Boris whatever his name (Timofey Mozgov) got $64 million so I’m going to hold out until I get an offer that reflects my self-worth.”

The ‘Red Rocket’ is coming off a 1 year, $1.5 million contract and has said he is not willing to take a pay-cut. “I feel I have consistently sacrificed financially for the Spurs to be competitive. It gave us the opportunity to sign marquee free agents like LA (LaMarcus Aldridge), but this will be my last major contract so I’m looking to make it count and get some of that 9 digit Mike Conley money.”

Bonner also elaborated on his desire for a starring role. “I’m in the prime of my career and I’m ready to put in 30 minutes a night. I’ve got 2 rings and the friggin’ 14th highest 3 point field percentage in NBA history. Gimme the rock and lemme put up serious buckets son!”
