Don’t you just envy people who can look darn good in just a plain white shirt and a pair of jeans? We are absolutely, one hundred percent jealous of them and it’s not because we don’t look good in this combo, but it’s because they bring this “je ne sais quoi” factor into the equation making a seemingly simple look, awesome AF. How do they do that? How do they turn something so simple into a statement making outfit? Is it their confidence, the fact that they feel good in their own skin? Or is it something entirely different? I guess we’ll never know. What we do know though is how to celebrate and pay homage to these remarkable individuals and that’s exactly what we are going to do with out fashion icon of this week, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.

Before Scandi style became cool, Carolyn Bessette, was a publicist for Calvin Klein who practically invented the minimalism in fashion. A royal, as American royalty can get, Carolyn Bessette was also a wife of John F. Kennedy Junior, whose life was tragically cut short, when her husband crashed their private airplane back in the 1999. She was a walking, talking, breathing, living epitome of sheer coolness and elegant sensibility and perhaps that was the reason why so many stylists and designers count her as one of their all time favourite fashion muses.

Her style was always consistant. Comfortable staple pieces which covered muted colour palletes with simple, androgynous silhouettes and architectural cuts were omnipresent in her fashion combos. She added chic to simple pieces just by wearing them. Her beauty routine also complemented her casual chicness and was reflective of her clothing choices. Unfussy chignons, ponytails and loose curls were her unique hairstyles which matched perfectly with her effortless aesthetic.

Her minimalist style was featured in fashion publications of the time — from W Magazine to Vanity Fair– but often Bessette-Kennedy refused to give interviews.

No one can do minimal better than this blondie. Her refined look is an endless inspiration to women across the globe, one which can hardly be replicated. Her impeccable purity is flawless and that’s perhaps the single thing we love most about her.
