Traditional manufacturing in Italian workshops blend tradition and artistry. Batiss empowers century-old traditions designing simple yet effective technology to save and treasure unique manual abilities at their highest

This is the diary of our journey in the art and craft of couture, to discover how “haute couture” eluded the fashion realm to enter the one of home décor. A manifest showcase of creative openness and handcrafting excellence, home couture expresses the apogee of painstakingly elaborate and elegantly luxurious interior designs.

With a handpicked audience of decorators, architects, buyers and clients (approximately 1,000 worldwide) the practice may seem frivolous and vain, though there are few things grander than home couture in interior design.

Batiss handcrafts the most dreamy and luxurious home linens and décor for exquisite and sophisticated bedrooms, in the same spirit of Haute Couture. From fabric selection to pattern creation, discover how we design and develop grand interiors and create one-of-a-kind objects for our Maison Couture Collection developed for the most exclusive clients and the most refined and sophisticated interiors.

Haute Couture, artistry and dexterity

Haute Couture is the highest echelon of fashion, the pinnacle of exclusivity and the zenith of dressmaking. Nothing short of artisanal perfection.

This famous yet mysterious French expression defines one of a kind creations crafted by the most refined and sophisticated dressmakers and labeled by the most exclusive fashion houses. Couturiers such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Julien Fournié, Maison Margiela, to name a few that are part of this elite group, must adhere to strict rules and handcraft custom garments for private clients with one or more fittings.

Historical expression of French fashion heritage, these creations exhibit the highest quality of craftsmanship in timeless designs meant to shine the brightest in the stunning demonstrations of their craftsmanship during the eagerly-awaited couture week in Paris.

Creating Maison Couture

Inspired by the lyric tension of the Parisian red carpet, interior decorators and Batiss’ designers and creatives recreate the same uniqueness of haute couture dresses for the most sophisticated clients in the world.

As exclusive dresses are realised by the most skilled artisans, we create painstakingly elaborate and elegantly luxurious designs for the most luxurious homes, yachts and aircrafts.

As dressmaker details such as scalloped hems and coloured bias trims are applied to home linens, plain white cotton sheets are not simply embellished, they become expression of personality and vibrance. Precious fabrics trace convoluted patterns and shapes of majestic organza fabric with sophisticated stunning floral lace and voluminous veils.

The exceptional savoir-faire of the Batiss ateliers is further showcased as refined and elaborate embroideries flourish on splendid sateen fabrics from the finest cotton as sprays of delicate colour.

Batiss home couture products, such as bed linen and towels, rugs and curtains, comforters and mattresses, are made entirely by hand by the industry’s most skilled artisans in our ateliers in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. As the most labour-intensive of our practices, today one Batiss couture bed for a home or super yacht can take approximately 170 hours of exacting embellishment and 280 metres of fabric to create. A stunning demonstration of our master tailors’ and seamstress’ sartorial care and artisanal dexterity that reveal an incredible level of detail and craftsmanship.

The Purpose of Maison Couture

Being so rarefied and seemingly impalpable, home couture may seem a frivolous and vain, a vanity fair exclusively arranged for the elite. But home couture is a fantastic creative adventure, a romance of form, function and aesthetics. It’s more than just a brand building effort.

The incredibly intricate level of detail, the woven patterns and the painstaking embroidery express research in both artisanal dexterity and design innovation. Maison couture is inspirational for our creatives allowing them to push the boundaries of home linen and decor design with innovative materials, techniques and approaches.

The rarefied craft of creating clothing for the individual, expresses the best of singular cultural experiences over mere products, and narratives to be shared with creative and curious communities.

If nothing else, home couture is an ode to the poetic finesse of needlework as well as to the imaginative potential of talented designers.
