It is with deep sadness that we announce the eventual shutdown and closure of Battle Racers, and along with it, Playcheck Games, on February 16th, 2022. Due to a combination of internal and external factors surrounding the project and the teams involved, the founders of Playcheck Games have made the hard decision to discontinue further development of both the browser-based and mobile versions of Battle Racers.

There is no easy way of announcing the following news: development and support for Battle Racers is ending. Due to factors beyond the control of our founders, we have decided to discontinue the operations of Playcheck Games, and thus, included with it, the development and operation of Battle Racers.

It has been 3 years since the Battle Racers team began working on an arcade racing game leveraging a simple ideal: to make a fun and competitive game and have the players earn out of it too. The concept of play-to-earn was still very young when we began, and it still is now, and together with it, we’ve done a lot of growing up. We’ve met so many interesting people and learned so much about bleeding edge technology that was about to take the world by storm. NFTs presented so much possibility in extracting value out of one’s video gaming hobby, among other things. We as founders had shared this journey together with you while upholding the dream that we wanted to make people enjoy and earn out of racing customizable mini-cars.

We have since had to make hard decisions on top of hard decisions while managing a small team of developers and artists, on top of an ongoing pandemic that changed the way people worked together. In the end, we have deemed that we can no longer provide a product worthy of its audience in the current and very fast-changing market of NFT and P2E games, with the current situation we have been experiencing both professionally and personally.

The remainder of our final month will be spent on the following activities:

  • We will be making sure our NFT contracts are validated in the appropriate block explorer websites.
  • We will support Battle Racers crate opening until the closure date of February 16th, 2022.
  • The development of the Battle Racers mobile app will be wrapped up and discontinued.

We’d like to thank all of our partners for seeing and supporting us throughout our development.

Last but not least of all, we are grateful to each and every one of you, our community, who have seen us through our ups and downs and loop-the-loops. We’ve had a couple close finishes, and you have filled our leaderboards with your support and enthusiasm. We could not have made it up to here without you.

Thank you for all of your support!
- The Battle Racers team

UPDATE #1 (February 8th, 2022):

Battle Racers Part NFT assets and metadata will be transferred to IPFS via NFTstorage.com to ensure that all part images, stats, descriptions, and 3D models will remain accessible after the project shutdown.

Smart contracts will be redeployed to reflect the change in metadata. This means that all our Part NFTs will be reminted on Polygon shortly after the shutdown. No additional actions will be required from our NFT holders. Parts will continue to be tradeable within Polygon via OpenSea and Venly Market. As previously announced, the smart contracts will remain open-source and public for third-party developers to access. We will provide more details soon.

UPDATE #2 (March 7th, 2022):
