Battle Racers update (July - September 2021)
Welcome to our Battle Racers Update for July to September 2021, where we’ll share with you the status of our $SCRAP-related features and our project roadmap until 2022.
This update is divided it into the following sections:
- Tournament Update
- Build Update
- Website Update
- What’s Next
- Press and Events Roundup
Tournament Update:
At the beginning of July we launched the Summer Time Trials, a series of weekly leaderboard-based racing competitions. More than a hundred racers clocked in their fastest time on The Aquarium (Track 4) to win parts from the exclusive Zeta GXs and a weekly commemorative POAP token.
As new racers joined our community, we launched the Maker ShowDAOn, a 1v1 best-of-3 tournament which took place from August to September on Starry Speedway (Track 3). The prize pool included $SCRAP, limited edition Zeta MKR Part NFTs, commemorative POAP tokens, and DAI sponsored by our event partners MakerGrowth from MakerDAO and CommunityGaming.io.
Congratulations to our Top 4 Finalists!
- Champion: Sabinpro
- Runner-up: Opaaq0
- 3rd Place: Napoleon
- 4th Place: Shaneearm
Build Update:
As we close our latest tournament cycle and prepare for the next one, it’s time to rotate our race tracks again and bring back Track 1: Woodland Forest and Track 2: Fossefall Freeway.
Other under the hood updates were also implemented in our Web and Decentraland versions:
- Added event graphics and other UI updates
- Added support for new Special Edition cars
- Applied profanity filter for usernames
- Fixed issue with race times being displayed differently (by milliseconds)
- Addressed timeout issues when switching browser tabs
- Other bug fixes and optimizations
We are also currently addressing an issue that was caused by a mistaken deployment of a test car that some people were able to race with on the live server. It was available during a short window from August 15th to 20th and caused several fast times to be registered in the all-time leaderboard. As such, we have taken down the erroneous test car which should not and would not be released given its overpowered stats. We ask for patience as we try and sanitize our records, particularly on our Track 3 leaderboard.
One of the major things we are also focusing on until the end of the year is the mobile version of Battle Racers! Soon you will be able to race your NFT cars in a recharged version with brand new gameplay designed especially for your phones. More details will be revealed soon, but in the meantime, you can sign up to be a beta tester on the Playcheck Games website: playcheck.games/betatesting
Website Update:
In the past several months we have continued API development for our play-to-earn features, and now we have deployed a new $SCRAP contract with meta transaction implementation optimization and other minor fixes, such as for the incorrect display of decimal places. This contract also uses the new upgradable convention from OpenZeppelin. All of these are part of the groundwork needed for upcoming $SCRAP-related gameplay and $SCRAP token listing in exchanges.
Old contract:
- Token name: BRSCRAP
- Address: 0x0189ea51371eeb94858058944346c452a940e58a
- Deployed on Polygon/Matic Chain
New contract:
- Token name: $SCRAP
- Address: 0xB55ae5537cfc6A7eCfa91f5a47199A692b477bCC
- Deployed on Polygon/Matic Chain
The correct $SCRAP amount should automatically reflect on the Battle Racers website. You can also view your balance on MetaMask by setting up a Custom RPC for Polygon (Matic Network) and simply adding the token via its contract address.
However, some extra steps will be needed for the correct balance to appear on scanning sites such as Polygon Explorer because of how they cache values. Since they reference transfer events, your $SCRAP balance on these sites will only be updated once there are new $SCRAP transactions done on your wallet.
There is no need to transfer or convert your tokens between the two contracts. Kindly disregard any remaining BRSCRAP balance in your wallets. Rest assured that your $SCRAP balance will already include your previously owned tokens.
What’s Next:
With SCRAP implementation and mobile development both underway, we are ready to present our updated project roadmap and completed milestones for Battle Racers!
We will keep you posted about the release of these features on our community pages.
