Hearthstone Class Banning Update

Well met! We heard the feedback, and we’re happy to announce we’ve recently released an update that prevents players from changing their decklists before matches in Hearthstone tournaments.

How It Works

Players are prompted to add each other in Hearthstone before proceeding to banning phase.

Two changes have been made. First, once a player goes to their match, the first screen will show his or her opponent’s BattleTag. It will ask the player to add the opponent and get into the challenge screen. This way, players won’t be able to check a future opponent’s previous matches to learn which classes they’re using before the match.

Both players then have to click on the ‘OK, we’re ready!’ button before moving to the class banning phase. If either opponent goes into their collection after they’ve both gone to the banning phase, players must make sure to take a screenshot and report it to the administrators using the ‘Match Dispute’ feature.

Players cannot see classes in matches that they didn’t play.

The second feature can be seen above. It’s now impossible for players to see classes used in matches they didn’t play in. This way, players won’t be able to check a future opponent’s previous matches to learn the classes before the match.

We’re confident these changes will protect the competitive integrity in Hearthstone tournaments on Battlefy. We’re always listening — not only for which netdecks will get us to legend the quickest, but also for feedback on how we can improve. If you have additional thoughts or questions, tweet us.

P.S. Check out the new feature and tell us what you think! Find a tournament to play in here.
