Let’s be honest, running an esports tournament isn’t easy. Managing players in a quick and efficient manner is always a challenge, which is why we are constantly working on improvements to automate key tournament operations. Bracket Progression has always been one of the core features on Battlefy, and we want to make this feature easier for tournament organizers to manage.
Currently, when an admin is seeding a bracket in Battlefy, there are three main options:
- Automatically seed the bracket by registration order.
- Automatically seed the bracket randomly.
- Manually seed the bracket.
As you can see, there is no automated process for seeding from former bracket standings into a new bracket within the same tournament. When managing a large tournament, this is essentially like moving units in Starcraft one-by-one to a new location. It’s labour intensive, inefficient, and downright frustrating in some cases.
With new improvements to the platform, brackets can now be automatically seeded based on a previous bracket!
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Step 1: Create a tournament like you normally would. If the tournament has 2 or more brackets with bracket progression format, the first bracket will have to run normally. This first bracket has to be on Swiss or Round Robin format.
Step 2: View the bracket standings. Once the initial bracket has been completed.
Step 3: Create the next bracket or select it if it has already been created. Seeding from standing’s feature will only be shown for subsequent brackets in Single or Double Elimination format.
Step 4: Select “Auto seed” dropdown menu for elimination brackets, titled “By bracket standings”. Only Swiss and Round Robin stages will be supported.
Choosing by bracket standings will ask which previous bracket you wish to pull players from and how many of the players from the top of the standings you want seeded such as the Top 8.
Step 5: After clicking “Autoseed” Battlefy will generate a list of players from the standings in the stage seeded in order.
Step 6: Click the “Generate Bracket” button as normal to generate the seeded bracket.
