We’re excited to announce the addition of Yohan Sengamalay as the General Manager of Business for Battlefy. This represents our commitment of delivering premier esports experiences for the biggest game developers and consumer brands worldwide. As General Manager, Yohan will be spearheading Battlefy’s continued momentum as an industry leader in competitive gaming.

As the esports industry evolves and grows into the mainstream alongside traditional sports, the company has identified the need to bring in talent and leadership with experience in marquee consumer tech. Yohan joins Battlefy from Amazon, where he spent more than 6 years managing advertising for Amazon devices, including launching the first ads on Fire TV. He was also instrumental in building gaming strategy for Alexa, working with top companies like Activision, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Hasbro and Paizo games. Previous to Amazon, Yohan was a strategic leader on the Microsoft Xbox Team, and oversaw all in-game advertising for first-party games, including Halo, Gears of War, and Forza Motorsport — as well as developing the sponsorship programs for Xbox LIVE.

“I have spent the better part of the last 13 years working in and around the games industry and have had a front row seat on the growth of esports across the games industry. I am thrilled to join Battlefy because it is uniquely positioned to usher in the next phase of competitive online play.” — Yohan Sengamalay

Yohan began his career in the sports world, working in the college athletics media space and then in brand management at PUMA.

He’s outspokenly passionate about bridging the gap between traditional sports organizations and competitive gaming — which will be a huge area of focus for Battlefy in 2020.

As the strategic head of business and partnerships for Battlefy, Yohan will not only continue our major activations within the games industry, such as the Hearthstone Masters Tour, Overwatch Open Division, or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Open Qualifiers — but bring the power of Battlefy to even more competitive leagues.

We see incredible opportunities to bring more players, brands, and media partners into the competitive gaming space, and make esports accessible to everyone. We can’t wait to share more of our plans going into 2020 — stay tuned!
