The executive team at Battlesnake came together to discuss what we could do to support the fight against racism in Canada and the US. We’ve decided collectively to donate what we can to NAACP to help those who are on the front lines, fighting for equal rights in the face of so much adversity, racism, and prejudice/injustice.

We will not pretend to know what People of Colour are feeling or experiencing — we can’t know. But, to the Black members of our community, we stand with you. We stand against racism and prejudice in all its forms, individual and systemic. Battlesnake affirms that Black Lives Matter and we will do our part to call out racism and prejudice at every opportunity. As a community, we stand for diversity, accessibility, respect, and the betterment of all people.

We also ask our community to do what you can to help. Donate, if you are financially able, to an organization working to make change happen. If you can’t donate, help share resources on social media, amplify information on what is happening, share bail funds for your local area, LISTEN and make space to those who experience racism and inequality every day.

Sincerely,

Noah, Brad, and Chris

We have compiled a short-list of organizations, books, articles and resources for you to consider donating to, learning more about the Black Lives Matter movement and the systemic racism that permeates our society. This list is in no way exhaustive and we strongly encourage everyone to continually research and educate yourselves on what you can do to contribute to this movement.

Obama Foundation — A list of resources to get informed, steps on how to take action, and organizations you can donate to.

Huffington Post — Black organizations and anti-racist groups Canadians can support now.

Lecture in Progress — A list of recommended resources for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

Aggregate: Introduction to Black Lives Matter — A collection of essays and research that diagnose the sources of violence and identify forms of resistance.
