What is #BetterLife?
Scott Broaddus, Business Development Manager, Professional Pest Management
It’s important to understand the passion behind my story which I can sum up in 6 words: Transforming #BetterLife with Passion and Innovation.
Transformation with passion and innovation drives my day to day and is a foundational element of our mission at Bayer: Science for a Better Life. Personally, there’s nothing more exciting than being a part of creating solutions for controlling and eliminating public health pests in the U.S. and throughout the world. The potential impact is far-reaching with mosquito-borne illnesses killing nearly 1 million people each year according to the World Health Organization.
As a member of Bayer’s Environmental Science (ES) team, “Better Life” has given me fuel to speak passionately about the importance of mosquito control, tick control and other vectors of disease. It resonates and strikes a new conversation — enabling me to collaborate with our customers and clients to deliver the best technology and formulations to effectively control these public health pests at the same time!
It’s easy to talk about the science of what we do and, to be honest, this is how customers typically perceive us… as solution providers. However, it takes leadership and courage to change the perception. Leadership to me is the connection to our LIFE Values (Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility and Efficiency); challenging conventional approaches in order to shift the conversation from what we do to WHY we do it.
Science drives us to deliver the highest quality of products. But we don’t stop there… what the science and innovation deliver for our customers, and our customer’s customer, is what makes the difference! At the end of the day, we deliver a #BetterLife by fostering healthy environments where we live, work, and play!
The passion behind our mission helps ground us in the outcomes of our important work — i.e., the Better Life we help provide –and propels our business long-term.
Without a true belief and passion in the work you do, all efforts will be lost.
Last, but most definitely not least, there’s also an important connection to #BetterLife for me personally. I have two daughters — Kaylen (5 years old) and Avery — (3 years old) — and I want to ensure they’re raised with the understanding that I love going to work every day and I am passionate about living up to our mission! My hope is that, when they are older, they recognize this and find something they are passionate about as well!
