Rondo y Lonzo con queso.

LOS ANGELES — Citing his interest in providing veteran leadership, Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo says sabotaging teammate Lonzo Ball’s Lamborghini was meant to help the young player, not hurt him. After joining his sixth NBA team in as many seasons, Rondo says he does not feel threatened by the number two pick in the 2017 draft.

“We have a familial relationship, me and Lonzo,” Rondo said. “I’m like Wednesday Addams, and Lonzo’s like the little brother she keeps trying to kill. Normally we only haze the rookies, but I wasn’t here his rookie year.”

Rondo dismisses the suggestion he holds any resentment that he’s one of four players brought in as roster fillers until the Lakers’ cap space can be used on a star free agent next summer. The Kentucky native uses every day as a teaching opportunity for young Lonzo, and not just on the basketball court.

“As a point guard in the NBA you have to make decisions in an instant, even when a play breaks down. If you’re driving your Lambo at 80 miles an hour and suddenly realize you have no brakes, it’s the same thing.”

Michael Beasley was not available for comment on this story saying he was too busy lacing Brandon Ingram’s Gatorade with THC oil.
