Everyday We’re Jostle-ing
Ah the office Intranet (and no, I didn’t mean to write Internet).

Do you know what an Intranet is? Let’s explore together!
Intranets are an online community workplaces use to connect and engage their employees. The main purpose of an Intranet is to share company information and resources — although, the learning opportunities and possible moral boosters that exist in an internal system are endless.
Each company may use their Intranet differently. They can use an Intranet tool for simply sharing company information and employee updates or have enable the tool to further organizational needs (i.e. the ability to celebrate work anniversaries, share shout-outs with employees and utilize a poll feature for opportunities to learn more and get options).
More Benefits to the Perks:
At Benefits by Design (BBD) we use our employee intranet to:
- Post up to date notifications on Events and Meetings
- Discuss company issues in a forum setting
- Publish Up to date documents/information
- Share company news/policies delivered to all employees in just a few clicks
- Allow for easy recognition of employees across multiple offices
- Gather feedback
At BBD, where two sorts of intranets have been used, many employees would say it has added to our culture. Private group discussions can be held to allow for employees with similar interests to come together and share new things. We have been working to upload all of our current forms/templates/policies and more for all employees to have access to.

Welcome Jostle!
Jostle is more than just our employee Intranet — it is our friend. Almost a fellow employee for some in the way, it helps us with our day to day tasks. We have been working with Jostle now for just over a year. As noted above, our culture has grown, our 3 national offices (including some at-home workers) have really come together as one. And we have all the posts, discussions, and celebrations logged on Jostle to prove it. All corporate information available to each and every one of us in one secure location that we have personalized as our own.

It’s easy to hear all of this and think of the possible distractions this could create for an employee. However, if you look at the perks of bringing your employees closer together, creating a one stop shop for all information and tools as well as the opportunities for knowledge and growth in a company then please, let’s “distract” some more!

It doesn’t hurt to note as well that most intranet tools also allow for a main administrator of the portal. They can manage/review usage and content as desired.
I hope this helps shed some light on some of the things our Intranet portal is doing for us here at BBD. Day to day, minute by minute, post by post.
Until the next time.
