[WEEK 2 - Country Classification Using House Photos]

Team Members: Meltem Tokgöz , Enes Furkan Çiğdem , Asma Aiouez

This week, we have collected the data that we are going to need for our project. At first, our aim was to collect images for 20 countries with each country having 200 pictures. However, because this process was very time consuming, we decided to reduce the number of countries at this stage. In this manner, we are able to test the data we obtained thus far.

The following is a sample of the images we have collected:

In total, we have pictures for 6 countries wherein each one we gathered 300 pictures. In the coming weeks, we will increase both the countries and images count.

For the first stage, the countries that we are going to work on are:

• Turkey
• Germany
• Indonesia
• China
• Iceland
• Russia

In this project, we’ll be using supervised learning where each data that have been collected is labeled. While choosing the pictures, we made sure that the information was correct.

The resources that have been used in this process are: Flickr, Pinterest,Instagram and Google Photos.

Total number of 1800 pictures have been obtained.

Moreover, a group meeting had taken place where the initial plan for our project had been set.In short, this week, we mainly deal with the data collection part of our project.
