Netherworld Haunted House is back for yet another year. Its grand opening was this past weekend, Sept. 27th-28th 2019. Fans from all over the Southeast gather for this annual ritual of scares, thrills, fright and fun! Netherworld is widely known for its extravagant themes that get bigger and bolder each year. This year the theme for both of haunted houses are respectively, Night of The Gorgon and Cold Blooded. According to http://www.americasbesthaunts.com/ Netherworld is one of the best haunted houses in America. Netherworld has been a Halloween staple in Atlanta since 1997!

Fan, Lee Fryer, said that before last year, he had not been to the annual scare-fest in almost twenty years. “I went when I was a kid back in 2000. I haven’t been since then and after about 19 years, I’ve made it back. When I went to the opening, I was surprised to see the crowd not be as big as it normally is. I’m assuming because it’s not yet close to Halloween. Anyway, the actor’s costumes were great, and their dialogue was very authentic and entertaining. Going to Netherworld took me away from my stress and worries for that night and I felt like I was in a whole new world.” Another fan commented that he loves the visual effects of the celebrated haunted house. “Netherworld has a lot of jump scares, some optical illusions and the actors get extremely close to you when their trying to scare you.”

A Netherworld employee who has worked at the haunted house for eight years and this year works at Netherworld, Island Chance, explained that the Halloween attraction has “about 300 staff members total and working for Netherworld is a very rewarding and fun job.” He added that many of the employees are actors who are between jobs and who use the characters they portray in the haunted houses as practice for their acting craft. He said that although acting skills are not required to get hired at the Netherworld haunted houses, management likes to hire employees who have entertainment experience for the character roles.

People not only consider Netherworld to be a haunted house to go to during the Halloween season, but also as a place to escape reality and create amazing memories. According to Mega fan Myles, “Netherworld is a tradition. My friends and I can never miss a year!” Netherworld also takes pride on their set designs and costumes. It strives to achieve the most realistic and intense haunted house experience in the country, and to accomplish this amazing fete, the creators work all year round to create the perfect scare for their fans and the public. This year in addition to the two haunted houses, Netherworld has added four escape games and a laser battle arena. So, no worries if chills and thrills are not your thing. There is something for everyone. Netherworld will run until the weekend of November 8–9, and is open from 7:30 through 10:30, Sunday to Thursday, and until midnight on the weekend. So, if you are looking for a good scare or just a good time add Netherworld to your Halloween plans!
