Queen of Central Michigan University

Central Michigan University is an amazing university that offers so many things to its students. CMU offers many registered student organizations, volunteer opportunities and professors are engaged with students helping them achieve success. However, not everything about CMU is perfect. If I were to become the Queen of Central Michigan University I would enact a few new rules.

RULE 1: My first new rule would be to create a unity between the different majors. When people join their major they take pride in who they are choosing to become. On a college campus where there are so many different kinds of people and majors it is easy to become segregated. The business majors tend to stick together, the biology and science majors are a clique and so forth. If I were to create one rule it would be that the university is striving to end the differentiation between all the majors.

RULE 2: My next rule would to be to improve Moore Hall. Moore Hall is where many of the journalism majors, IPR majors and communication majors spend most of their time. However, Moore Hall needs a little updating. If an outsider were to take a stroll around CMU’s campus they would be drawn to the biosciences building or the Grawn Hall. This is because these new buildings have study lounges for students to do homework during down time, as well as places to eat and get coffee. When there are areas dedicated to students it encourages them to stay on campus and be proactive. Whereas in Moore Hall, there are no study areas or places to get refreshments. If a student is waiting for a class to begin they have to sit on the benches or the floor with their lap tops on their laps. If I were Queen of CMU this would be high priority in my new list of rules.

RULE 3: My final rule as Queen of CMU would be a better way to communicate events on campus to students. There are so many situations where events pass by that many students would have liked to attend but they were not even aware. I would like to implement automated bulletin boards that update each day in every building. These bulletin boards will display every event that is going happening on campus for that day so students don’t have to seek out each event separately. It would make it easier on the students, as well as increase student participation.
