Some of the hottest new home accessories are Amazon’s and Google’s smart devices that can do a range of tasks such as creating a grocery list, playing music, and reading you the news… all by the command of your voice.

Emmanuel Vincent is a senior research scientist at Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA). A harp player, Emmanuel wants to use signal processing and mathematics to improve sound quality.

Most technical research in signal and audio data processing remains very academic. However, growth in multimedia, home automation, hearing aids, and remote voice-activated devices will require even more sophisticated technology.

In this video, Emmanuel further explains his work using deep learning to improve sound quality for a variety of purposes.

This video was made at the last #Freshfromthelab event at Station F in partnership with Inria and La French Tech.
