You have found Sarah the Scylighter’s massive and growing library of DBNs.
DBN stands for “Detailed Book Notes.”
(It’s not the most brilliant name, but I came up with it years ago when I started doing DBNs, and I figured it’s easier to just keep it ;D).
But What IS a DBN?
I started doing DBNs when I started writing on Medium, 7+ years ago (golliwogs, has it been that long??).
At the time, I was going through some rough stuff in life, and so I was vacuum-reading as many books as I could, recommended by all sorts of people (some who turned out to have great recommendations, others…not so much, but hey! You win some, you lose some…), to see what I could learn to solve my problems.
But I didn’t just want to read the books and then have the info fall out of my head.
(Because, you know statistics say that the average reader retains only about 10% of what they read. Or more likely less than that).
So I decided to take notes — detailed notes — on the books I was reading. And thus, the DBN…
