CFP: Final Deadline: Wed., May 31, 2023

BE, a journal of Black Experimental and Interdisciplinary Work, is archived at CUNY and features work from writers across the Diaspora. Our spring issue, Locating Joy in the Struggle, is inspired by Laguardia Community College’s conference on Black Lives Matter. Presenters discussed empowerment and the need for collective organizing and action within the Diaspora and with our allies and co-conspirators. A special section of this journal will be dedicated to Alexis Pauline Gumbs, the inspiring activist and award-winning author of Undrowned, Dub, M Archive, and Spill.

We welcome visual art (graphic novels, video games, photographs,), music or short films (1–3 minutes long) fiction, nonfiction, and hybrid forms (fewer than 25 pages) that address these topics.

Please send your work, along with a picture or a short bio or statement about your work, to be.journal.2023@gmail.com.
