Call for Submissions (the Fall Issue)

Revised Call for Papers (CFP): Final Deadline: Mon., Oct. 20, 2023

How is environmental justice part of social justice? What are your most innovative ideas for addressing climate change? Do you believe climate change exists or represents an authentic threat to communities of color? BE, a journal of Black Experimental and Interdisciplinary Work, is archived at CUNY and celebrates writing from across the Diaspora. Our fall issue, with an expected publication date of Oct. 31, examines real-life horror: our natural environment. We hope to include an interview with acclaimed speculative fiction writer Sheree Renée Thomas from a rising star of AfroSurreal writing, Dera R. Williams and an interview with Amos White, founder of 100K Trees, with LaGuardia Community College students. We welcome visual art (graphic novels, video games, photographs), music, or short films (1–3 minutes long), fiction, nonfiction, and hybrid work (fewer than 25 pages) that address these topics.
