Be Curious! Week 1

The first blog in the series aimed at capturing some of the most bizarre things ever heard by any of us!

At Ocutag Snap, we believe curiosity is not just a state of mind but a way of life. Curiosity is the thirst to know more about the world. It’s the single element that distinguishes us from all other animals. It is curiosity that led us to sail through oceans and seas in search of new lands and cultures. It is curiosity that led Newton to investigate something as trivial as falling of an apple from a tree and come up with the Laws of Gravitation. Curiosity about even the most trivial things in and around us can lead to knowledge that has a profound impact on the course of our lives.

From this week onwards, every Friday we will post three simple facts/stories/explanations that we came across that made our jaws drop! We would love to have you guys respond back by sending us the simple yet profound things you learnt/discovered in the past 7 days. If we like what you have to say we’ll feature your discovery in our blog-post.

Here are the three things(along with their sources) that we discovered in the last one week:

  • The Egyptian Pyramids: The Egyptian pyramids were originally covered with Limestone. The limestone was taken out by later rulers to build religious building and palaces. Here’s a lot more interesting details about the Egyptian pyramids.
  • The Golden Gate Bridge: The Golden Gate Bridge has garnered as much interest as the Egyptian Pyramids if not more. There are several fun facts about this one like: a) The bridge has been closed twice since the rapid winds which flew at speeds of more than 60 miles an hour posed a huge threat to the bridge! It would cost more than a billion dollars if someone wanted to build the same bridge in current times. Here’s a list of other fun facts related to this.
  • Rodin Thinker: Most people don’t know that the original Rodin Thinker was green in color and the acid rains have turned him black over the years. Read more over here!
