October is a special month for Nigerians worldwide, as it marks the nation’s independence from the colonial rule of the British Empire.

This year makes it 64 years since Nigeria was declared independent.

However, many questions still linger in Nigerians' hearts. Many of these are beginning to sound rhetorical, as there seems to be no answer.

One of the most common questions remains, “When will Nigeria start moving forward?”

For years, Nigeria has appeared to be going backward rather than forward.

The “Japa syndrome” is at an all-time high as Nigerians seek to find greener pastures elsewhere.

There seem to be no solutions to the never-ending problems Nigeria seems to find herself in, with arguments brewing in various directions on why she should go back to colonial rule.

However, many Nigerians still believe Nigeria will be better amid the “hot soup” she finds herself in.

Just like Martin Luther, Nigerians have a dream.

  • They dream of a Nigeria with leaders who care about the needs of the citizens and not their pockets.
  • They dream of a Nigeria free of corruption
  • They dream of a safe, secure, and prosperous Nigeria.
  • They dream of a Nigeria that boasts top-notch healthcare systems, educational institutions, infrastructure, and technological innovations.
  • They dream of Nigeria having a stable and working economy.
  • They dream of a Nigeria where their voices can be heard.
  • They dream of a Nigeria where godfatherism in politics is put to an end.
  • They dream of a Nigeria where they don’t need to “Japa” for greener pastures.
  • They dream of a Nigeria where everything works.

This is the NIGERIAN DREAM

In recent years, we have seen Nigerians go all out to ensure these dreams become reality.

The 2023 presidential elections and the 2020 #EndSARS protest are significant.

I believe in Nigeria’s progress and will play my part until the Nigerian dream becomes a reality.
