Burning Season
It was that time of the year when we usually burn the grass. The earth had dried up, the sun’s heat was unrelenting, and rainfall was meagre. Strong winds roared across the valley over the rugged open plains, bringing scores of dust in its wake. Depending on how furious it blows, you could tell if the season was going to be a long, dry one or would only last for several months. This year it seemed it would last long.
