Nobody holds the truth, but everybody has intellective abilities (quite all).
There are a lot of discussions between people interested in the matter divided into two groups: global climate change due to anthropologic activities vs negationists arguing that the change is due to recurrent terrestrial cycles (glaciations followed by warmest periods).
I lean toward the first one but, in any case, a reduction of the anthropologic CO2 emission could reduce the problem related to the supposed recurrent terrestrial cycles effect.
So, why not keep anyhow a different lifestyle? Are we (humans) so irrelevant to what really happens on the Earth?
Beyond the causes, we cannot avoid taking care of what is happening regarding the increasing earth’s temperature, we must anyway adopt measures to reduce this impact.
Most people don’t care, they are saying we need to continue with the current capitalistic model of infinite growth that implies pollution and natural resources grasping. Progress can’t be stopped.
We rely on technology cause it will fix all the raising problems, we are humans, the most intelligent specie (sometimes it doesn’t seem like it) and we are able to supersede everything will go wrong.
But, change’s effects are not linear, a tiny rolling stone starts slowly and takes speeds is a while to the point where can’t be stopped. So people have to understand that when a red line is crossed what will happen is inscrutable and cannot be managed with usual tools (and ideas).
The red line is still far away they are saying, so don’t worry about the future, there is time… a lot of time, and in case of big problems, we will have the tool to avoid a disaster.
Are we sure?
