When I first jumped into social media platforms, it felt like a magical experience. Actually, I was interacting with social media beginning at the age of 15!

Everything was fine until I went to pursue my master’s in the U.S. and realized there was no way to keep my friends and family back home connected. Social media looked like a modern-day savior, a platform to post jokes, selfies, travel pictures, and thoughts.

However, this wasn’t some personal scrapbook, it quickly became the toxic pit I signed up for. One post. One opinion. One awkward selfie; that was enough for a group of strangers to rip me to shreds like wolves on a carcass.

I distinctly recall sitting on my dorm room bed as I read, “You curry-smelling job stealer” in a comment section with shaky fingers and a knotted stomach. Even after all the positive comments I received, the negative ones always outweighed all the rest.

What followed were years of trial and error, pain, education, and ultimately…
