Looking Out For Peace
A Poem About Self and Inner Peace
“The problem with life,
What keeps me up at night,
It’s not the pain,
Nor the sadness inside.”
“Searching for happiness,
Running away from the wars,
What do they have in common,
But the peace we want.”
“I feel I can cope with them,
Either It’s the scars,
Or the people,
Leaving me behind.”
“All that I need,
All the willpower,
And all of the happiness,
Leans inside a word.”
“But it’s hard to achieve,
To plant the seeds,
Waiting for them to grow,
Harvesting them in time.”
“Even after that,
It’s hard to maintain,
Hard to protect,
The peace that I worked for.”
“Staying calm,
Maintaining the peace,
Solves all the problems,
All at once.”
“But It gets damaged,
With every sadness,
With every thought,
Losing a fracture behind.”
“The fractures we call mental health,
What keeps us sane,
What drives us into madness,
To that endless black hole of mind.”
“To be or not to be,
That’s for me to choose.
Or so I always thought,
The ending’s rather loose.”
