Meet Up For Drinks

Last week, I had the unique opportunity to step out of my usual corporate bubble and into a sleek, neon-lit walkway in downtown Manhattan. It was all very speak-easy-like. A dedicated elevator whisked me straight to the rooftop. The evening was bright and clear & the view uptown across the New York skyline was immediately impressive. With just five other OCM leaders, I had the privilege of connecting in real life with the only agenda of meeting and greeting.
As a change management professional accustomed to Zoom meetings and conference room discussions, this evening promised to be a refreshing departure.
The ambiance is undeniably hip — an eclectic mix of modern art on the walls and funky beats in the background. I can’t help but feel a tad out of place, surrounded by a crowd that exudes effortless cool. At times that evening, I catch myself thinking, “Am I too old for this scene?” (I will examine that thought at another time.)
But I push aside my hesitations and dive in. As the happy hour unfolds, I realize how rewarding it is to connect…
