Intro to Monster Lore:

So I’ve always wanted to do research over monster lore and then write pieces to share with others. I’ve always had an interest in the supernatural and anything mystical. Monsters have always intrigued me because they begin as stories that are passed down through generations without much proof. Most of the lore that comes from the monsters we know today originates during a time where providing proof was difficult because of the lack of technology. However, this has not stopped people from fearing these monsters and repeating the stories throughout time.

Let’s Begin.

The Wendigo or Windigo

So I spent quite a bit of time trying to find different theories on where the Wendigo came from. Most stories differ only in details but still tell the same story. The Wendigo lore derives from a group of Algonquian Native American tribes. The Algonquian Native American tribes are the most popular and widespread language groups. The location of these tribes has been anywhere from the areas surrounding the Great Lakes in the United States all the way up to Southern Quebec and Eastern Ontario in Canada.
